The Wild Woods: Jewish Ways with Winter Solstice
7, 14, 21 December 2020
Join us to learn about Jewish customs around Winter Solstice, including midrashim (folklore), Earth-centred practices, women’s practices, and the stories of the ancestresses we raise up at this time. This course will be a three-part series to help us prepare for the darkest time of year and the return of the light. It will culminate in a Jewishly-rooted ritual to mark the Solstice.

The Book Nook: Wonder Women of the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible)
11, 18, 25 January + 1 February 2021
From tactical change-makers to fiery queens, from vulnerable daughters to wise women, let us encounter women of our ancient tradition. We will meet these women in all their boldness, vulnerability, leadership and complexity. Each course will include text study, as well as an embodied or meditative practice to connect to the medicine of each ancestress. While there are many awesome women in Tanakh, this course focuses on some of the women whose stories are lesser known, and who we have explored less in Yelala, but who deserve to be raised up. This is a 4-week course.

The Hearth: Introduction to Ritual-Making
15, 22 February + 1, 8, 15, 22 March 2021, plus 2 x sessions to be arranged with you if you want help supporting the development of your ritual skills
Join us to learn to make a Jewishly-rooted ritual of your own! This course will include learnings about what rituals our ancestors have made in the past, what present-day Jewish ritual-innovators are up to, and techniques to devise a ritual of your own. As part of the course, you will also be invited to create and facilitate a ritual of your own, as well as receive feedback from the Kohanot and your fellow ritual-makers. This is a 3-month long course that will require some (fun!) work outside of class time. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate, and will be empowered to lead ritual in Yelala spaces.
